Why specific coaching

Why coaching for gay men, specifically?

Because being gay can shape the way you learn to move through the world.

A lot of gay men grow up learning to read the room, work out what people think of them, and adjust how they speak, behave or express themselves depending on who's watching.

You can become very good at looking confident while still questioning yourself underneath.

And those habits don't necessarily disappear when you grow up. They can show up in your relationships, friendships, body image, confidence, boundaries and the way you deal with rejection.

That's why this isn't generic coaching with a rainbow sticker slapped on it. You deserve to work with someone who already understands the context.

Someone who doesn't need you to spend half the session explaining what it's like to be a gay man before you can get to the thing you actually want to change.

You shouldn't have to explain being gay before we can start working on your life.

Recognition

Sound familiar?

You look like you've got it handled. You're the one other people come to for advice. And underneath, a version of this runs on loop.

You replay conversations afterwards and wonder if you said the wrong thing

You analyse a text for so long before sending it that it stops mattering

You catch yourself wondering whether a guy actually likes you — usually before he's done anything

You keep ending up with men who give you just enough attention to keep you hanging around

You chase someone who gives very little back, and tell yourself you're not chasing

You want to say what you actually want, but you're already thinking about how they'll react

You say yes when you mean no, then feel quietly annoyed with yourself

You compare yourself to other gay men and somehow always come out worse

You change how you behave depending on who you're with

If you're recognising yourself here, there's probably something worth looking at.

A different way of seeing it

You're not broken.

Most of the patterns you're fighting against started out as ways of protecting yourself — of fitting in, seeking approval, staying safe. They helped you survive. They made sense at the time.

The goal isn't to become a different person. It's to understand the patterns that are no longer serving you, and to change them — so the man you actually are gets to show up.

You don't need fixing. You need to come home to yourself.

What we work on

This is what we'll get into

Not categories on a brochure. The actual places where the stuff above shows up in your life.

Dating

Why you get overly invested, chase people who aren't available, or treat one guy's attention as proof of your worth.

Communication

Saying what you actually want instead of trying to work out what the other person wants first.

Boundaries

Knowing where your line is, and holding it without immediately feeling guilty.

Self-worth

Separating your value from whether someone wants you, texts you back, or finds you attractive.

Overthinking

Getting out of the endless analysis and deciding what you're actually going to do.

Other people's opinions

Making choices because they make sense for you, not because they'll be approved of.

Other gay men

Walking into a room without immediately ranking yourself against everyone there.

Direction

Working out what you actually want, after a long time of adapting to what other people expect.

What changes

You'll notice the difference

Not because you suddenly become fearless. Because you start doing things differently.

You go on a date without analysing every part of it afterwards
You stop chasing men who aren't giving you what you need
You say what you want instead of hoping someone figures it out
You can hear 'no' without turning it into a verdict on your worth
You set a boundary without spending three days feeling guilty about it
You send the text without rewriting it six times
You make a decision without polling everyone you know
You can be interested in someone without making them responsible for how you feel about yourself
You walk into a room of gay men without immediately comparing yourself to everyone there
You stop changing yourself to keep someone interested

My method

The Reconnect. Reclaim. Rise. method

Three stages, one direction: back to yourself. This is the framework we'll work through — not a one-size-fits-all script, but a clear path that adapts to where you are.

Reconnect

With yourself

Your needs, your values, your emotions, and what you actually want — underneath the adapting, performing and people-pleasing.

Reclaim

Your ability to choose yourself

Communicate your needs, set boundaries, trust yourself — and stop abandoning yourself for approval or connection.

Rise

As the person you want to be

Greater confidence, authentic relationships, clearer standards and purposeful action — a life that finally feels like your own.

About me

Hi, I'm Phill.

I've spent more than eighteen years working with people — first as a personal trainer, then as a coach. Years of sitting one-on-one with men who looked like they had it together and privately didn't. You learn a lot in that kind of room.

What it taught me is simple: the men I work with aren't short on discipline or ambition. They're short on something quieter — the sense that they're allowed to want what they want, and safe to show up as they actually are.

Questions

Questions before you book

What if I don't know exactly what I need help with?

You don't need to. Most people know something isn't working, but can't quite see the pattern underneath it. That's part of what we'll work out together. You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis, a perfectly defined goal, or a plan.

What if I've already tried therapy?

That's not a problem. Coaching and therapy can complement each other, but they're not the same thing. If you've already done the work of understanding yourself, coaching can help you turn that understanding into different choices, behaviours and relationships.

What if I'm nervous about being completely honest?

You probably will be. There's no expectation that you walk into the first session ready to tell me everything. We build trust as we go. You decide what you're ready to explore, and my job is to create a space where you don't have to perform.

What actually happens after I book?

You'll book your first session and we'll start by getting clear on where you are, what's happening in your life and what you want to change. From there, we'll build your coaching around you, rather than forcing you through a predetermined program.

How do I know whether coaching with you is right for me?

That's exactly what the consultation is for. We'll talk honestly about what's happening, what you're looking for and whether I can genuinely help. If I don't think I'm the right person, I'll tell you. There's no obligation to continue.

What if I'm not ready to commit to eight or twelve weeks?

The consultation comes first. You don't need to make that decision before we've established whether there's something worth working on together. If we both think there's a fit, I'll explain the options and you can decide from there.

The free consultation

What happens when you book

No forms, no prep, nothing to prove. Just a straightforward conversation — here's how it goes.

We talk about what's happening in your life

Where you are right now, in your own words. Nothing you need to get right or rehearse beforehand.

We identify the patterns you want to change

Together we get clearer on what's actually underneath — the thing you'd want the work to move.

We decide whether coaching makes sense

Honestly, and as equals. If it's a fit, you'll know. If it isn't, I'll tell you that too.

It's not a sales call. There's no obligation to continue — the worst case is a useful conversation.

You don't need to becomesomeone else.

You need to become more fully yourself.

If you're ready to stop performing, stop second-guessing yourself and start trusting the person you already are, let's talk.

No pressure. No obligation. Just a conversation to see whether we're a good fit.
